TEEN TALK: Financial Planning For College

Financial Planning For College

Ever since our child is born, we as parents think about what the big days in our children’s lives will look like. From their first steps, all the way to their first day at college moving into the dorms, you can’t wait for those dates to happen for them. Here at Hacker, we want to make sure you know how to talk to your little ones early on, to make sure financially, they can achieve all of these big goals.

Being Practical

It’s important to teach your children about being practical when achieving their goals. For instance, if your child expresses interest in going to college after graduation, it’s important to talk about the difference in pricing from university to university. What can they afford without scholarships or without your help? How can they make smarter decisions when it comes to things like college textbooks or living arrangements? What is the difference in pricing between public or private schools, in-state or out of state options?

Being Successful

By putting practicality at the forefront, your child will learn how vital it is to sit back and weigh the options at hand opposed to making rash decisions, setting them up for success in the future.
